Show Marriott-Slaterville City History August 2014 Marriott-Slaterville Monthly History August 2014 Late July and early August rains have helped our state's water outlook considerably. This month has been the wettest August on record, with cooler temperatures overall. As a side note, due to the ongoing drought the Great Salt Lake is not as great as it has been in the past. The lake is currently at 4,193.8 feet above sea level, its lowest rate in 51 years. The lake's record low was 4,191 feet above sea level in 1963, and its record high was 4,212 feet in both the early 1870's and again in 1986-87. With the hot, dry summer months upon us once again we have limited water supplies due to the ongoing drought. Weber Basin Water Conservancy District has the following tips for watering yards and lawns: 1. Residential irrigation is optimal between the hours of 6:00 pm and 10:00 pm 2. Repair leaky joints or pipes to conserve 3. Avoid watering during and after rain storms 4. Keep your sprinklers off streets and sidewalks 5. Avoid over watering 6. Keep your filters clean and irrigation system in good repair For those on the pressurized secondary water system: businesses, churches, and government facilities may water during the day to allow enough water pressure so residents can water at night. For residents who are part of an irrigation company, you are subject to the company's turns, rules and restrictions for your respective irrigation company. The City has requested UDOT to conduct traffic studies at several busy intersections within the City. A traffic study is required before an intersection signal can be installed. A traffic study has been requested for the following intersections: • 700 South and State Road (S.R.) 126 (1900 West) • 200 North and S.R. 126 (1900 West) • 1-15 Ramps at 400 North • 400 North and 1200 West Traffic has increased at these locations and the City wants to be proactive about getting traffic lights installed. UDOT makes the final determination if a traffic signal is warranted due to the study, and if one is to be installed. LOCAL UPDATES: • Parks - Our community parks are popular attractions.
