Show Marriott-Slaterville City History October 2014 LOCAL UPDATES • Marriott Park: A new parking lot has been constructed at the Marriott Park with the assistance of a Community Development Block Grant. This new parking will help make the park more accessible. • Trail Parking: A new trail parking area is underway on 1700 S with the assistance of RAMP funding. This parking facility will make our regional trail system more accessible. • September Road Projects: 1600 W was repaired between 400 N, past Pioneer School to 1500 W. Also, roads throughout the city will be painted and potholes repaired in preparation for winter. • Land Use Training: The Utah League of Cities and Towns provided training for persons interested in land use and planning on October 8, 2014, 6:30 pm at the Harrisville City Office located at 363 W Independence in Harrisville. Cost for the training was $12.00 for those interested in attending. • Boys Basketball: Boys in grades 1-9 were invited to play. Those interested could register online at www.cityofharrisville.com or at the Harrisville City Office anytime during October. Cost was $35 which included a jersey. • Craft Bazaar: The First United Methodist Church at 1339 W 400 N held a craft bazaar on October 24th from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm, and October 25th from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Eight local authors were available at the Church to sign copies of their books. In addition shoppers found books, food, jewelry, quilts, paintings, crafts and gifts for sale. Planning Commission and City Council Meetings were both cancelled for the month of October. Bits and Pieces Greyson Trevor Creamer, son of Rachel and Trevor Creamer, was born on October 13, 2014. Willa Michele Tolman, daughter of Michele and Phillip Tolman, was born on October 15, 2014 and passed away on October 23, 2014. The Weber County Republican Women luncheon was held Monday, October 6, 2014 at Jeremiah's Restaurant, 1307 W 1200 S. The cost was $15 and the guest speaker was Ryan Wilcox, who serves as Northern Utah director for Senator Mike Lee. Two people were hospitalized after a head-on collision on Pioneer Road at the S-turn near 3650 West on Tuesday evening, September 30th. The two drivers were the only ones injured and were transported to an area hospital. The extent of their injuries was unknown. Toad's Fun Zone announced the November 1st grand opening of a new 18-hole disc golf course which is being constructed parallel to the existing 9-hole executive golf course. The public is invited to participate in the grand opening tournament that will be held on November 1st. |
