Rob Smout was responsible for the raffle and event tickets, and a HUGE THANKS goes to Becky Burt for organizing and coordinating an outstanding celebration as usual! Our beautiful community parks are popular attractions for residents and non-residents alike. However, due to vandalism and other problems, the City Council has closed the remainder of the 2014 season to resident only reservations. The Planning Commission granted preliminary approval for the Upland Ranches ten lot subdivision on 200 South, subject to a list of several stipulations. Various road maintenance projects will take place throughout the City this summer. Please drive carefully in construction areas. Fireworks are legal in the City if they are used according to state law. Please enjoy them safely! Both the Planning Commission and City Council Meeting were cancelled for the month of July. Ogden and the surrounding areas are gearing up for the open house that will run from August 1st to September 6th for the newly renovated Ogden Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Church expects anywhere from 500,000 to 750,000 people, including those from surrounding states, to tour the temple. The Church will need 23,000 ushers just to orchestrate this event, which gives many members who are part of the Ogden Temple district an opportunity to participate personally. In addition, hundreds of local youth Church members will unite in a cultural celebration which has become a tradition at temple open houses. The Ogden Tabernacle is also part of the renovation project. The renovated temple will serve 74 LDS Stakes from Riverton in southwest Wyoming to Layton to the Box Elder County line, which is the largest temple district in the world. Four of those stakes are located in Wyoming. About 250,000 members of the Church will call the Ogden Temple their place of worship. |
