Show Marriott-Slaterville City History November 2014 • The latest update on Morris Meadows Subdivision located on 700 South is that construction will not begin until after the first of the year. • Mr. Schofield thanked Mr. Morris for inviting them to the recent ULCT training held in October at Harrisville City. He felt that it was very beneficial. City Council Meeting-November 20, 2014 The Council approved a new Business License for Oldschool Wheel, Inc, a mail order business for wheels and tires. A Public Hearing to consider potential projects for which funding may be applied under the 2014 Community Development Block Grant program was held. The grant money must be spent on projects benefitting primarily low and moderate-income persons. The Wasatch Regional Council, of which Marriott-Slaterville City is a member, is expecting to receive approximately $1,000,000.00 in this new program year. Randy Phipps, speaking on behalf of himself and his neighbors, requested the City Council to take action to remove the Hansen Wrecking Yard at 980 West 1700 South. This site was formerly owned by Clair Baur with Ogden Auto Body. Mayor Butler received a request to pass a Resolution for Key to Our Community for Weber State University. It was noted that in the past the City has benefitted from WSU students who have provided volunteer service. Staff recommends support for the mission of the Center for Community Engaged Learning at WSU and the resolution passed unanimously. The Utah Retirement Systems recently conducted an audit of the City and made policy recommendations in a Resolution which classifies all elected and all volunteer officials. Staff recommended including "or stipend appointed officials as part-time" in the Resolution as well. Eligibility for retirement coverage under URS shall be administered in accordance with the statutory rules governing the Utah Retirement System. The City Council unanimously adopted Resolution 2014-J with the amendments as recommended. Mr. Morris indicated that Derrick Oman made a request over a year ago to change properties on 1200 West and 1700 South to manufacturing. The Planning Commission rejected manufacturing and Mr. Oman withdrew his request. In dealing with the ongoing planning issues on 1200 West, Commission Schofield suggested that the City consider allowing commercial. The Planning Commission then held a Public Hearing and took comment. This Ordinance is based upon options that were reviewed by the Planning Commission this year during their Public Hearing and meetings on the subject. Of the various options reviewed by the Planning Commission, this recommendation amends the General Plan to commercial along 1200 West with the exception of the Buttars and 12th & 12th Storage parcels. It also includes designating the Marriott-Slaterville Business Park and commercial in the General Plan. Zoning will remain as it is presently until it is changed. The motion to adopt Ordinance 2014-05 which amends the General Plan passed the City Council with one dissenting vote. |
