Show Marriott-Slaterville City History September 2014 Mr. Hodson said flooding occurred on Mill Creek on Labor Day due to the beavers. There have been ongoing problems all summer because of beaver dams on the Creek. Mr. Meyerhoffer said that traps have been set. Mr. Hodson asked about the status of the traffic signal located at 1200 South. He said the light does not stay green long enough for people to make left-hand turns and would like UDOT to adjust the time for a longer period. Pres. Ilium pointed out that 1200 West is one of the heaviest traveled roads in the county. Mr. Morris discussed letters that have been sent out to some residents regarding zoning violations. If anyone has questions about these, please let him know. Pres. Ilium reminded those present that if during their travels they see anything in the City that needs to be fixed, please let the City Office know. Pres. Ilium also said that the open manholes on the new sewer lines should be covered before anyone gets hurt. He would like to take another tour of the sewer plant and Mayor Butler said he will make arrangements for one. Bits and Pieces James Leland Bidlack, 68, died September 25, 2014. The temple was rededicated on Sunday, September 21st and only members who are worthy are now allowed to enter. The renovated temple is an outstanding addition to all that our communities offer. John Armstrong, a resident of Marriott-Slaterville City and professor at Weber State University, wrote A Letter to the Editor which appeared in the Standard Examiner on September 12, 2014. Mr. Armstrong penned a rebuttal to the September 4 article in the Standard Examiner Our View entitled "Free tuition after eight semesters." He remarked that "Rather than 'incentivizing' universities to ensure student success, perhaps we should consider returning legislative funding for state higher ed to historic levels and help supplement the cost to all students." He feels that the main benefactors will be students and society. The 4 Annual Utah Pirate Festival was held in Marriott-Slaterville City from September 12 to 14 .
