Riverdale Baptist (28-3), which has now won the tournament two of the last three years, advanced to the championship game after overcoming a 19-point third-quarter deficit against Edgewater (Fla.) Friday. No such drama existed against Fremont (24-3). The Crusaders made seven of their first nine shots and held the Silver Wolves scoreless until the 3:27 mark of the first quarter. Riverdale Baptist cooled off in the second quarter and Fremont climbed within nine on a Molen 3 with just under a minute to go in the half, but Ray came right back and knocked down a 3 for the Crusaders. Riverdale Baptist opened the second half on a 10-4 run and Fremont spent the rest of the game trailing by double digits, falling behind by as many as 29 late in the fourth quarter. Fremont struggled the entire game to get open looks against Riverdale Baptist's swarming defense, even in the midst of the Silver Wolves' second-quarter surge, and shot just 22.2 percent from the field for the game. Fremont made just 3 of 18 from 3-point range. Riverdale Baptist also struggled from 3-point range (3 of 13), but shot 38.1 percent from the field. BYU signee Amanda Wayment never got on track, scoring just five points on 2-of-6 shooting. Man pinned in truck by wide turner By LORETTA PARK Standard-Examiner staff OGDEN — An Ogden man is being treated for injuries suffered in an accident after another driver made an overly wide right- hand turn, officers say. The accident happened at 9:25 a.m. Thursday near the Internal Revenue Service building at 800 W. 12th St., said Weber County Sheriff's Sgt. Brent Butler. Paolo Nativida, 36, of South Ogden, was driving a 1997 Toyota pickup and had just dropped off his daughter at a day care, Butler said. Nativida was stopped at the intersection, waiting to make a right-hand turn onto 12th Street, when Randy Mower, 55, of Ogden, turned right onto 800 West from 12th Street, Butler said. "Several independent witnesses said (Mower) turned from the far lane, not from the turning lane," Butler said. "He was going too fast and failed to stay in his lane. He hit the Toyota's driver's door." Mower was driving a Chevy HHR, and when he hit the Toyota, he pushed it several feet off the road and into a tree. The Toyota ended up on its side, with part of it on top of the hood of the Chevy, Butler said. Nativida had to be extricated from the truck and 4-18- was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for medical treatment, Butler said. Mower was cited for failure to operate in a single lane.
