Show Chase through 4 counties ends in Weber A car sits on the roadside with a blown-out tire after running across spikes during a chase Monday that started in Summit County and ended in Farr West in Weber County. SEE VIDEO ONLINE www.standard.net Two arrested after speeds hit more than 100 mph By ANDREAS RIVERA a a * Standard.-Examiner staff r — Two suspects are in custody after leading police on a chase Monday that began at 1 p.m. in Summit County and ended 90 minutes later in Weber County. The incident began after a Summit County sheriff's deputy attempted to pull over a vehicle that was going 120 mph westbound on Interstate 80 in Parley's ANDREAS RIVERA/Standard-Examiner Officers take a suspect into custody after a chase that reached more than 100 mph and went though four counties. Another man was also arrested. Canyon. After the driver refused to stop, Utah Highway Patrol troopers picked up the chase and dispatched helicopter support to fol low the suspect vehicle, which at that point was going in excess of 100 mph northbound on Interstate 15, endangering other vehicles, said UHP Lt. Chris Simmons. Troopers attempted to spike the vehicle's tires as it passed Farmington and Layton. The effort was successful near 1200 South in Ogden with police even tually backing off the chase and allowing the helicopter to pursue as the car slowed. See CHASE I Page 6A |
