In assisting local artists, arts organizations and artistic endeavors, the Council works to connect the arts to daily life, education and economic development. The Weber Arts Council anticipates another wonderful year as we begin 2014. This year we look forward to taking on an executive director as well as finding a permanent home. We have appreciated the graciousness of the Eccles Community Art Center in allowing us office space within their building. As we continue to grow, we hope to find a new location that will allow us to expand as well as increase our services to the community. We also anticipate being part of more great art projects within Weber County. In the last granting cycle the Weber Arts Council secured $13,800 for projects in Weber County, both from RAMP and other sources. This allowed our community to enjoy a variety of wonderful art programs. The RAMP (Recreation, Arts, Museums, & Parks) program has been a wonderful program for our county. The RAMP program receives one cent for every ten dollars purchased in Weber County; this money is used to fund new and existing facilities for recreation, arts, museums and parks throughout the entire county. This year, the RAMP program is up for vote. We hope you will consider voting in favor of continuing this valuable resource in our community. By applying for RAMP funding, the Weber Arts Council was able to facilitate new and existing arts programs in Weber County schools and to the general public. In 2013, the Council helped fund Nurture the Creative Mind — an after school program for teens which helps them gain and use marketable life skills. We also funded an African Dance and Drum program with performer Deja Mitchell which presented programs in many Ogden City elementary schools as well as the Utah School for the Deaf and the Blind, reaching over 5,000 people. In addition, Weber Arts helped the Chamber Orchestra Ogden concert series and the Ogden City Fly Fishing Film Tour 2014 receive funding. We look forward to seeing more projects from these organizations as well as new projects in 2014. Individuals or organizations whose project and mission align with the mission of the Weber Arts Council, and who would like to apply for funding for community art projects may do so with the assistance of the Weber Arts Council. Contact Weber Arts for more information. The next deadline is March 2014. f \ "The Weber Arts Council fills a unique need in the community.
