The Weber County Chapter of the Red Cross began in December 1915 when a small group of individuals gathered to begin organizing a chapter of the Red Cross. In 1962, the name was changed to the Bonneville chapter, and in 1969, the chapter merged with other chapters in Northern Utah to become the Northern Utah Chapter, with its headquarters located in Ogden, Utah. The scrapbooks range from 1940 to 2003 and highlight some of the important work of the Red Cross. The books include photographs, newspaper clippings, and other materials. |

Show Volunteer Nurses' Aide Must Make Sacrifices Red Cross Corps Must Have Workers, but Is Particular Women, here's a defense job. And a real job. It will call for sacrifice of your holiday pleasures, for divorcement (but not divorce) from your fam¬ily, and for absolute fidelity to the job if you accept it. It is membership in the Volun¬teer Nurses' aide corps of the Red Cross. Qualifications are strict. You must be between the ages of 18 and 50, must pass a physical ex¬amination, must have at least a high school education or its equivalent, and must be in a po¬sition to be free of all home and family cares. If you qualify — and only if you can qualify — you are wanted in the corps. Those accepted as volunteer nurses' aides will have instruction three hours daily for six weeks, and must be on call whenever needed and for as long as needed for duration of the war. They can¬not miss classes. In peace time, the volunteers must spend 150 hours a year for four years in a hospital, not a |
