The Weber County Chapter of the Red Cross began in December 1915 when a small group of individuals gathered to begin organizing a chapter of the Red Cross. In 1962, the name was changed to the Bonneville chapter, and in 1969, the chapter merged with other chapters in Northern Utah to become the Northern Utah Chapter, with its headquarters located in Ogden, Utah. The scrapbooks range from 1940 to 2003 and highlight some of the important work of the Red Cross. The books include photographs, newspaper clippings, and other materials. |

Show ARC 400-9 Sept. 1939 Code K 7 SLEEPING CAP (OR "BEANIE") I and II (Wool: Sock yarn, about 1/8lb.) (Needles: Three #2 needles) I Cast on 96 stitches (112 if wool is fine); Knit 4 and purl 4 for 3 inches; knit plain for 5 inches; then take off 1 stitch in every 4 until you come to a point. Colored wool to make bright stripes may be used if desired. Tassels or buttons may be placed on the top, but this finish is not necessary. Chapter Label - should be sewed on inside edge of back. II Cast on 96 stitches, 32 on each of the 3 needles. Knit 2, purl 2 for 35 rows, then knit 6, purl 4 for 22 rows. Then decrease 1 stitch at each end of each needle every row until 4 stitches remain on each needle, break the yarn off leaving about 1 yard, thread this into a large needle, draw through all stitches, draw stitches together smoothly and sew firmly in place. Chapter Label - should be sewed on inside edge of back. Directions for bundling: Place folded cap flat on table, alternating edges so that package may be level. Tie securely in packages of ten. |
