The Weber County Chapter of the Red Cross began in December 1915 when a small group of individuals gathered to begin organizing a chapter of the Red Cross. In 1962, the name was changed to the Bonneville chapter, and in 1969, the chapter merged with other chapters in Northern Utah to become the Northern Utah Chapter, with its headquarters located in Ogden, Utah. The scrapbooks range from 1940 to 2003 and highlight some of the important work of the Red Cross. The books include photographs, newspaper clippings, and other materials. |

Show WEBER COUNTY CHAPTER OGDEN, UTAH April 17, 1942 Mrs. Wade Johnson, Chairman, War Relief Production American Red Cross, Weber County Chapter 2565 Brinker Ave., Ogden, Utah My dear Mrs. Johnson: Insasmuch as the Production Work for the Armed Forces and the Refugee Production Work is so closely connected it would seem advisable to separate the work into two sections, namely: 1. Materials received through the Government free of charge, including all yarn. 2. Materials bought and paid for by the Chapter, including the comfort articles made up for service men in hospitals, etc., also the Emergency Closet and local Disaster articles. 3. Section 1 will be under your supervision and will include all materials and yarn sent to us by the Government free of charge, such as the garments you have made in the past for the refugees and which will now include all knitted articles for the soldiers. 4. Section 2 will be under the supervision of Mrs. Lee D. Turner and will include all materials purchased by the Chapter to make up into comfort articles for the armed forces, supplies for the Emergency Closet and local Disaster production. 5. If there are any donations to either chairman, even though they come under the classification fo the other supervisor, please accept same and send through as Weber County production work 6.
