Show The volunteer workers of the war production committee. She expressed her thanks for the assistance the committee has received and her appreciation of the privilege of serving on the county Red Cross committee. NATIONAL FIELD RED CROSS MAN TO LEAVE OGDEN Reception Planned for Emergency Expert This Evening 2/42 William T. Raney, national field representative of the Red Cross, from ST. Louis, Mo., will complete his third Ogden course for first aid instructors tonight with the graduation of 46 persons to meet the heavy demands. A reception for Mr. Raney, to begin at ten-fifteen tonight in Weber college cafeteria, has been planned by Red Cross Weber county chapter officials for a fitting farewell to the instructors’ instructor. At the conclusion of tonight’s class, each of the students will receive a teaching assignment from Kent S. Bramwell, director of first aid instruction in Weber county. Commends Work “It is unusual for any chapter to have more classes than it has instructors,” Mr. Raney said today. “And it is more unusual for a city to have sufficient demand for classes at the close of an instructor training course to place each student in charge of a class at once. The first aid program in this chapter is one of the best organized I know. The chapter is doing commendable work.” At present, 121 first aid classes are being conducted in the county, giving training to 3,487 people. The classes include 21 junior, 99 standard and one advanced courses. Requests for 80 additional classes have been received. The students who graduate as instructors tonight will be first assigned to classes demanded by civilian defense program, Mr. Bramwell said. All chapter officials’ city and county commissioners and others active in the civilian defense program have been invited to the reception. Mrs. Ira Martin will supervise the program and Mrs. Arthur Woolley will have charge of table and decorations. |
