The Weber County Chapter of the Red Cross began in December 1915 when a small group of individuals gathered to begin organizing a chapter of the Red Cross. In 1962, the name was changed to the Bonneville chapter, and in 1969, the chapter merged with other chapters in Northern Utah to become the Northern Utah Chapter, with its headquarters located in Ogden, Utah. The scrapbooks range from 1940 to 2003 and highlight some of the important work of the Red Cross. The books include photographs, newspaper clippings, and other materials. |

Show Truck Becomes Ambulance By Use of Official Equipment CHANGEOVER…The American Red Cross has created an “insert” which will enable a truck to perform as an ambulance. It provides slings for four stretchers. Above, Mrs. Paul Hodgson, Red Cross motor corps enrollee, makes Joyce Hibbert and Mrs. Ivan Thompson, volunteer “patients,” comfortable on the top deck. At side, Mrs. Hodgson demonstrates how to tuck patients into the double-deck insert. GROUP DESIRES MORE MACHINES Fittings Necessary When Trucks Offered for Air Raid Calls A plea for registration of more trucks for use by the Red Cross disaster committee, functioning in the event of an air raid as the emergency medical unit of the citizens’ defense corps, has been sounded by L. G. Diehl, chairman of communications and transportation for the group. The trucks needed particularly are flat-bed ones from 50 to 55 inches wide in which can be placed metal inserts for singing four stretchers into place as an emergency ambulance. Th |
