The Weber County Chapter of the Red Cross began in December 1915 when a small group of individuals gathered to begin organizing a chapter of the Red Cross. In 1962, the name was changed to the Bonneville chapter, and in 1969, the chapter merged with other chapters in Northern Utah to become the Northern Utah Chapter, with its headquarters located in Ogden, Utah. The scrapbooks range from 1940 to 2003 and highlight some of the important work of the Red Cross. The books include photographs, newspaper clippings, and other materials. |

Show Mrs. Lee DeTurner Volunteer Service Chairman Weber COuntyChapter 2636 Van Buren Avenue Ogden, Utah My Dear Madam: Mrs. Ambrose Dihl, our chairman of Volunteer Services, has asked that a survey be made of the various Red Cross Chapters throughout the country to determine the extent and scope of volunteer programs. We are looking ahead to the day when yarn and materials will no longer be available in large quantities. Canteen, Nurses Aide, Motor Corps and Staff can absorb only a fraction of the many volunteers who are eager to serve. Naturally there is an obligation on the part of Red Cross to provide a productive and practical program for this energy. If we could assimilate into on so-called reservoir all the different projects of the chapters we could use many of these ideas in the future. Would you be willing to co-operate with us and answer the following questions in detail? 1. Do you offer any classes outside of Nutrition, First Aid and Home Nursing? 2. Do you take an active part in Civilian Defense other than Disaster Relief. 3. Have you any new money raising projects? 4. Have you any new sewing projects in the production department? 5. Please list any other project you contemplate or already have organized. If at any time in the future you have occasion to refer to this survey for your own Chapter, please feel free to do so.
