The Weber County Chapter of the Red Cross began in December 1915 when a small group of individuals gathered to begin organizing a chapter of the Red Cross. In 1962, the name was changed to the Bonneville chapter, and in 1969, the chapter merged with other chapters in Northern Utah to become the Northern Utah Chapter, with its headquarters located in Ogden, Utah. The scrapbooks range from 1940 to 2003 and highlight some of the important work of the Red Cross. The books include photographs, newspaper clippings, and other materials. |

Show ARC 400-12 Rev. Oct. 1940 SHIPMENT OF SURGICAL DRESSINGS, HOSPITAL AND REFUGEE GARMENTS Compliance with the following instructions will facilitate the handling of war relief supplies in this country and abroad. Garments: Whenever possible, garments should be packed for export shipment in the standard wooden cases described below. Only one type of article should be included in each case and only one code number should appear on the case. Women’s and girls’ skirts, for instance, Codes R-17 and R-6, should be packed separately. Less than case lots should be shipped in cardboard cartons or ordinary wooden boxes. Cartons, if sued, must be of suitable strength to withstand rough handling by carrier. Such lots will be consolidated at the export warehouse and repacked in standard size cases.
