Show Marriott-Slaterville City History February 2015 City Council Meeting - February 19. 2015 The Council approved a business license for Rugged Rentals, Inc located at 1264 W 12th St. They are involved in shed sales. Jennifer Morrell, County Elections, gave a presentation to the City Council on the Weber County Vote- By-Mail program. Beth Holbrook from Waste Management presented several options to the city for residential solid waste recycling. The City received an Application to Amend the Zoning Map from Derrick Oman, which is consistent with the General Plan. The area is currently zoned A-l and the petitioner is requesting it be amended to C- 2P. The Planning Commission recommended approval with several stipulations and was approved unanimously by the City Council. The City Council voted unanimously to adopt Resolution 2015-C setting 2015 legislative priorities, which includes water rights protection, water development, air quality and comprehensive transportation funding strategy. The Council voted unanimously to a release of note and agreement for secondary water in consideration of Pioneer Management forfeiting secondary water fees to special district. The Council discussed telecommunication franchise agreements and fees. Mr. Morris said the City is not receiving the available 3.5% in fees because we did not approve this procedure previously. The Council would like to adopt this ordinance so the City can receive the fees, so Mr. Morris will research it further. The Easter Egg Hunt will be held on April 4th at 10:00 am at the Slaterville Park. Mr. Slater asked if a particular culvert had been piped, but since Mr. Meyerhoffer was not at the meeting, no one else knew if it had been completed. Mr. Illum asked about indiscriminate land filling and was told that this can only occur within an approved Site Plan with a permit. Mr. Slater feels that the property owner has the right to do what he wants with his property. Mr. Ilium suggested that perhaps as a City we need to consider all the issues and develop come regulations. He said he has had several citizens complain about so-called "landfills". Mr. Illum also commented about the number of trucks traveling on 1200 West and the lack of law enforcement. Mayor Butler said he brings this issue to the attention of Lt. Find lay regularly. Results of a recent traffic survey on 400 N and 1200 W were discussed. Results for both were comparable. Mr. Morris announced that a large commercial development is being proposed behind Pilot. This will require extensive planning on the City's part and more information will be forthcoming. Mr. Morris reported that the Planning Commission approved a hotel and restaurant expansion at Jeremiah's on 1200 S, along with a 120-bed Assisted Living Facility. |
