Keith Wardle Slater was born November 2,1929 in Ogden, UT to wonderful parents, Raymond L. Slater and Nevada Wardle. Keith was raised on a small farm, as the oldest of five siblings, Keith learned the meaning of hard work growing up and could always be seen working longer than anyone else, and was always the first one up working the next morning. September 12, 1955, Keith met Marilynne Dee Henrie, the love of his life. They were married October 5,1956. Their Marriage was later solemnized, as they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Ogden LDS Temple. Keith attended schools in Marriott, Slaterville and Wilson. He attended Wahlquist Jr. High and Weber High School graduating in 1947. Keith also graduated from the old Weber College in 1960. Keith was a proud Veteran, having served in the U.S. Air Force from 1950-1954. After his service in the military, Keith : worked for Mr. J.C. Blair on the Blair farm, along with starting a career with the Federal government at the Defense Depot of Ogden (DDO). Keith gave 41 years of service before retiring in 1989 as the Chief of Data Systems. During his career, Keith received numerous performance awards and recognitions. Keith even had a street on the Depot named after him due to his value at DDO. In 1977, Keith was selected as one of only ten employees in the entire Federal Supply system to receive the "Outstanding Employee Award". Keith was the second individual at DDO to receive that high honor from the government. Keith's work ethic and precision in completing tasks was unparalled. Heavenly Father certainly must have work that he needs to be done right and done right now, which is why he called Keith back home. Keith never truly retired. When he retired from DDO he went to work at the golf course behind his home (the former Blair Farm which had changed from farming use to a golf course) as the head groundskeeper. Keith was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He held many positions of the church including; High Priest, Home Teacher, Elder's Quorum President, Mutual President, and Sunday School Superintendent. Keith was most proud of his calling as the Slaterville ward financial clerk for 35 years. He served faithfully under eight different bishops. Keith was always credited with being the reason the wards finances were always in such great order. Keith enjoyed being very involved in the community he grew up in. He served on the Slaterville Township planning board as well as the Marriott-Slaterville City planning board. Keith loved the outdoors, all sports and was an avid BYU and Weber State fan.
