Anyone can experience back pain. The pain can range from mild to severe. It can start gradually and get worse slowly or it can hit suddenly from a fall, odd twisting action, or lifting something too heavy. Somethings can increase your risk of back pain. ♦ As you age so does your back. You may first experience back pain even while in your 30's and 40's. ♦ Poor posture and weak back muscles. People who are less active and overweight tend to experience more back pain. ♦ Some types of cancer and arthritis can affect the spine. ♦ Smoking not only prevents vital nutrients to the disks in the back, but also slows down the healing process, so the back pain may last longer.
