Show Tires, old boat, debris feed grass fire early in the season By CATHY MCKITRICK Standard-Examiner staff OGDEN —The Weber Fire District responded to a pre in the vicinity of 200 S.. ft200 West in Ogden around fl p.m. Tuesday. I Three fire crews, or bout nine firefighters, re- ponded, said Fire Mar- hall Brandon Thueson. Early reports of the rass fire had several tires blaze, which created lenty of black smoke. By 1:45 p.m., the fire, which spanned about 3 jacres, was under control, but Thueson said the cause [was unknown and under investigation. The recent stint of unseasonably warm, dry weather has fire personnel on edge. "February was a very unusual month for us. We usually don't start our grass fire season in February, but we did this year," Thueson said. Agricultural burns and residential spring cleanup efforts using controlled burns willrequire extra caution this year. "It is very easy for a controlled burn to get away from someone," Thueson said.
