Show Marriott-Slaterville City History May 2015 Marriott-Slaterville Monthly History May 2015 An unusually wet May across much of Utah did not dramatically improve the state's water supply situation, but it did delay the start of wildfire season and allowed farmers to conserve irrigation water. The weather service reports this will go down as the rainiest May on record, with 17 days of measurable precipitation. Between 5 and 6 inches of rain fell during the month in northern Utah. A number of residents have asked about starting a community recycling program in Marriott- Slaterville City. This recycling program would be twice a month in conjunction with garbage pick-up by Waste Management. The recycling program may include opt-in or opt-out mechanisms and time periods. Since no one likes surprises, the City is seeking community input and education before creating a recycling program. An independent online survey is available for resident's input through June 30, 2015. With the shortfall in precipitation over the last year, drought restrictions are in place. Residents were asked to conserve when they irrigate and not to water after 10:00 am or prior to 6:00 pm. This affects all of us, so everyone needs to do their part! Planning Commission Meeting-May 19. 2015 A Conditional Use Permit for Vickie DeVries was approved. She is proposing a home business boutique. Approval was given to Gerald Hoth for Townhouse Estates to develop Phases 4 and 5, and will now be sent to the City Council for their approval. Final subdivision approval was given for Upland Ranches located at 2375 W 200 S. The approval was given subject to City Council approval and compliance with several stipulations. Regina Carver requested that two of the previously defined conditions of her business Conditional Use Permit be re-evaluated to provide additional parking and accommodations for private parking. After discussion the Commission granted approval subject to several items of compliance. Commission and staff follow-up: • The property belonging to Lloyd Vitt will go to a Tax Sale on May 21, 2015. The City proposes to pay the property taxes, and then foreclose on the property. • No action will be taken on the John Hansen property until after July 1st. • It has been observed that there is beginning to be an accumulation of junk on the property located west of Heritage Park on 700 South. • The remodel at High Country Inn is still in the process. • Mr. Schofield said one of the poles is missing at the RR Crossing near there, and one of the signs in the divider is bent. |
