Show Marriott-Slaterville City History September 2015 interested. It is anticipated that the recycling program will commence in January 2016 and there will be a short opt-out period for those residents who do not want to participate. The City Council gave preliminary approval for the Upland Ranches Subdivision for 10 lots located at approximately 200 S 2300 W, subject to compliance with all City Engineer, staff and agency requirements within 18 months. Officer reports and legislative oversight: The Trunk-or-Treat will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2015. Mayor Butler negotiated an interlocal agreement with Ogden City and BDO to provide $25,000 per year to help maintain 400 N. Ogden City removed the fence at BDO on 1200 W because they want it to look more inviting rather than like a compound. They will build a berm from the fairgrounds up to the nature park, which will include trees and grass. City roads will be striped next Tuesday. Continuation of the concrete lining on the Willard Bay Canal will commence from 200 S to 400 N this fall. The City parks will be closed on October 15,h for winterization. Vandalism has been a continuous problem at the parks this year. Mayor Butler announced that the annual Fall Clean-Up will be held on October 24th and 25th. Dumpsters will be placed at the Marriott and Slaterville Parks for use by residents only. Pres. Van Leeuwen said that both of the paramedics and Station 61 responded to 120 calls last months. Bits and Pieces Eisley Paige Bitter, daughter of Ryan and Lynnae Bitter, was born on September 16, 2015. Oaks Milton Anderson, son of Cody and Amy Anderson, was born on September 23, 2015. A 5 '/j-hour standoff between a suicidal man and law enforcement ended peaceably when he surrendered early Tuesday morning, September 1st across from the Pilot Travel Center. A 42-year old man barricaded himself in a red pickup truck at 1670 12th St in Marriott-Slaterville after Sheriffs deputies had pulled him over while they were on their way to his residence in unincorporated Weber County. When he refused deputies orders and it was discovered he was armed with a shotgun, several agencies were dispatched to secure the area and negotiate with the man. The standoff ended around 1:00 am after members of the SWAT unit successfully negotiated with the man to get out of his truck. He was transported to the hospital for mental health commitment. In July, Lorna Huggins, 70, sold her Marriott-Slaterville farm property. Before moving she wanted to disassemble an antique barn to salvage the wood. When her son called a friend to help out, Huggins said she never expected a large group of Ogden police officers to show up. On July 13th and 14th about 40 police officers came in two shifts on their own time to take down wooden planks and loaded several trailers full of the wood from the barn, which was more than 100 years old.
