Show Marriott-Slaterville City History March 2015 Mr. Morris said the City has received a CDBG grant in the amount of $400,000. Tentative plans are to use this money to buy out John Hansen's towing and parts business. This will be discussed further at City Council Meeting. The possibility that Sierra RV Sales & Service, a large recreational vehicle business now located in Davis County, may be relocating to Marriott-Slaterville City was discussed briefly. Further information will be forthcoming at next month's meeting. Staff was asked when Jeremiah's would begin construction on their hotel and restaurant additions. They are currently in the process of obtaining a loan. The Vitt property caught on fire this week and two of Mr. Vitt's trailers burned down. City Council Meeting-March 19.2015 The following Business Licenses were approved by the City Council: Black Top Restoration, Love Towing and Tiny Ranchers Daycare. A second Public Hearing on the Community Development Block Grant was held. The purpose of the hearing was to allow all citizens to provide input concerning the project that was awarded under the 2015 Community Development Block Grant program. The Council discussed Ordinance 2015-02 which would allow the City to create a Community Development and Renewal Agency. After discussion regarding the role and purpose of the Agency the Ordinance was passed unanimously. Resolution 2015-D authorizing the preparation of a draft Community Development Project Area Plan on 43 acres located at the end of 1700 W off of 1200 S was discussed. This Resolution would authorize the development of a required CDA Plan which would facilitate the proposed relocation of Sierra RV Sales & Service at this site. The Resolution was approved unanimously by the Council. Ordinance 2015-03 imposing a municipal telecommunications license tax in accordance with Utah Code 10-1-403 was discussed. Telecommunication service providers have been and will be installing facilities in the public right-of-way and this tax is the method under state law to obtain a rate up to 3.5% of gross receipts from such providers. The ordinance was passed unanimously Weber County is currently considering a vote-by-mail system in this year's election. It's felt that voting by mail would save the City money and possibly generate a better voter turnout. After discussing the pros and cons of adopting this method for the 2015 elections with an additional mail drop at the City office for ballots on a trial basis, the motion failed 2-3. Instead, a motion for a standard polling place passed 3-2. Office reports and legislative oversight: Mayor Butler noted that Tear-A-Part is now open and will have an Open House in May. |
