Beavers still continue to be a problem on Mill Creek, Mr. Slater feels that a grate should be installed at the replaced culvert on Mill Creek. Mr. Hodson expressed his concern that too many cars are speeding on 1200 W. There are also pot holes on 1200 W and 700 S which need to be filled. Mr. Illum noted that there have been some problems with recent changes in the County Road Department. Mayor Butler agreed and it was noted that the services currently being provided by the County can be contracted elsewhere if they continue. Bits and Pieces Virgie Wood Storrer, 96, passed away on March 3, 2015. Matthew Dean Hess, 42, passed away on March 5, 2015. Dixie Lee Dearden Holmes, 75, passed away on March 17, 2015. Brooklyn Graham was born on March 28, 2015 to Robert and Lindsey Graham. Les Vierra, 44, of Eden, recently participated in The Ogden 52 Project, a community effort led by Benjamin Zackand Nurture the Creative Mind, to capture Ogden through the eyes of the people who live there. Vierra was assigned the area between 20th and 24th streets, west of Wall Avenue in Ogden and said he saw a junkyard, which ended up being his image. It was of John Hansen inside his shop, John's Towing and Parts. Mr. Hansen also owns a junk yard which is located on West 17th St in Marriott-Slaterville City. Tear-A-Part, a self-service auto recycling center, recently opened a second location in Marriott- Slaterville City at 763 W 12th St. The company is headquartered in Salt Lake City and has been so successful that the owner, Chris Mantas, decided to open a second location in Marriott- Slaterville City. In addition to recycling, the company sells quality used parts, and will also buy used cars, running or not and will buy cars off the street whether or not they have a title. They are open seven days a week from 8:30 am to 6:30 pm during the summer and 8:30 am to 5:00 pm during the winter. The Weber Fire District responded to a fire in the vicinity of 200 S 1200 W in Marriott-Slaterville around 1:00 pm on Tuesday, March 17, 2015. Three fire crews responded finding a grass fire which had several tires ablaze, which created plenty of black smoke. By 1:45 pm the fire, which spanned about 3 acres, was under control but the cause was unknown and under investigation. |
