Show Marriott-Slaterville City History May 2015 City Council Meeting-May 21, 2015 Business Licenses were reviewed and approved for: Vickie's Country Connections, Titan Electric, and Bene Bolognese. The City Council reviewed HB 362 - Transportation Infrastructure Funding. This is a comprehensive approach to address part of the funding shortfall identified in Utah's Unified Transportation Plan. The bill reforms the state motor-fuel tax and authorizes a local option transportation sales tax to allow for priority investments in roads, transit and active transportation facilities at the local level. It will help Utah preserve our current infrastructure and accommodate our projected population growth. Several budget items were discussed and acted upon, including the amended tentative budget for the Pioneer Special District for the year ending June 30, 2015; the FY 2015-16 budget, and adoption of tentative FY 2015-16 budget. Public Hearings for these budgets was scheduled for June 18, 2015. Council members discussed the upcoming Fourth of July celebration. Officer reports and legislative oversight: Mayor Butler met with Ogden City Mayor Caldwell about providing assistance with maintenance costs on 400 N. Mayor Caldwell was receptive to the idea and will take it under advisement. Mayor Butler reported that the new sewer line north of 400 N is now completed and reduces the load on the main line by approximately one-third. Ned Allred has been hired for the summer months to help Trent. Ongoing discussion occurred regarding the beaver dams and the water situation due to the amount of rain we have been receiving. Mr. Slater inquired about the property owned by Randy Marriott on 2800 W, where it appears he is filling in a portion of what is considered to be wetlands. Mr. Morris recognized the Mayor for his hard work on the budget once again this year. Opportunities are available to help clean up and beautify our city gardens, parks and roadways. An article in the May 2015 Pioneer Post encouraged residents to give of their time to serve or bring family/friends for one to two hours to clean, weed, trim, and remove overgrown grass. Further information can be obtained by contacting Sandra Saunders or DeAnn Hufstetler or signing up at www.justserve.org. It's time to get ready for the annual Fourth of July celebration, Any group interested in a fund raiser can contact Becky at the City Offices about helping with the games. |
