Weber County Commissioners unanimously approved an interlocal agreement with Marriott- Slaterville City that places 43 acres of vacant land in Marriott-Slaterville into a community development area. The land is poised to develop into a commercial center that could yield significant tax revenues in the future. The agreement between Weber County and the City places the "greenbelt" land into a community development area and commits 65 percent of the county's new property tax dollars generated by the project over 15 years to help install roads, sewer and other key infrastructure. Bill Morris, City Administrator, said the property has been for sale for a number of years, and a prospective buyer is expected to close on the land in early June. The Weber School Board is selling a piece of land in North Ogden and looking at signing on to a Community Development Area plan with Marriott-Slaterville City. The plan, proposed by the Redevelopment Agency of Marriott-Slaterville, is an agreement to use tax increment revenues to provide incentives to developers for a property that is just west of 1-15, between 700 S and 1200 S. This is the proposed site for the relocation of Sierra RV Sales & Service, which is currently located in Davis County. If the CDA is approved, the developer will get 65 percent of the tax increment and the school district will get 35 percent. However, because the property value is expected to go up, the district should get more money.
