Douglas Larsen, executive director for Weber Economic Development Partnership, said the sales tax and corridor preservation funds have helped fuel almost 40 projects since the county began collecting the revenue in 2008. "We've contributed al most $80 million in local funds, and we've now enabled almost $170 million in transportation projects that would not have happened without this funding," Larsen said Tuesday. While Ogden city had no funding requests in this current round, it acquired $3 million last year for the widening of North Street between Wall Avenue and Monroe Boulevard. Of the total dollar amount, $300,000 came from corridor preservation funding and $2.7 million came from the sales tax. North Street, an east- west collector road, will receive upgrades to the Monroe and Washington boulevard intersections to reduce vehicle delays, Larsen said Roadside shoulders will also be widened and contiguous sidewalks will be installed to improve public safety, he said. The Larsen Lane project in Harrisville should also improve traffic Row by adding another left-turn lane onto Washington Boulevard. "During heavy traffic periods, t(je left lane is totally inadequate and the waiting time for a left turn onto Washington Boulevard is extremely long," Larsen said, noting that the Utah--— Department of Transportation will pay to relocate existing traffic and pedestrian signals at this intersection.
