Show Marriott-Slaterville City History April 2015 Marriott-Slaterville Monthly History April 2015 Severe drought conditions grew across northern and central Utah as March ended and has reached a critical point. All of Utah's low-elevation snowpack has melted and what little remains will melt quickly, according to a state water supply report. Water basins statewide are either at the worst they have been in 30 years, or close to it. Mountain snows won't help much, as spring runoff has been underway for some time due to the warmest and driest winter on record. Dumpsterswere placed at the Marriott and Slaterville Parks on April 25th and 26th for the annual community spring clean-up. This is a complimentary service the City provides. A $500.00 reward was offered by the City for information leading to the successful arrest and conviction of any person(s) responsible or involved in the vandalizing of road signs on Pioneer Road earlier this year. Pioneer Elementary held an emergency lock down and evacuation drill on the morning of April 8, 2015. Roads were blocked and closed and law enforcement secured the area. Someone has stolen the tree marker plaques which the City made for residents and families who donated a tree at the City Hall Park. Residents were asked to contact the City office to help us recreate new tree marker plaques if theirs is missing. One-on-one personal counseling is available through Weber Human Services for assistance with questions on Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage, Medicare Advantage Plans, initial Medicare Enrollment, Low Income Subsidies for medications, along with Medicare billing problems and mix-ups that haven't been resolved. If you are a senior citizen and think you have been the victim of any Medicare Fraud or Abuse, program counselors are available to help. For questions or appointments, call Weber Human Services Department of Aging at [801] 625-3730. Summer tennis lessons will begin June 8th at the Harrisville Tennis Courts. On-site registration for Marriott-Slaterville residents occurred on April 28th and 29*11 at the Harrisville Tennis Courts. Open registration will be May Slh through 6th at the same location. Cost is $25 for 6 lessons. Rackets and balls are provided at no additional cost. For questions or additional information contact Ashley Clayton at tennis.rec@gmail.com or call [801] 643-2077. The State of Utah now handles burn permits. Weber Fire District no longer issues burn permits. Permits are now obtained from the Utah Department of Environmental Quality. Their website is www.airquality.utah.gov/Compliance /OpenBurning/index.htm. |
