Show Joseph E. Velasquez, Littleton, Colorado, who graciously mailed a copy of his beautiful painting, 'The Big Hitch,' to the compiler and gave permission for its use in the book, "Mountain Green, The Beautiful," requesting that it be presented to the Sponsors of the book. It has been presented to the Morgan North Stake, according to his wishes. The print is a signed and numbered edition ready to be framed and hung. "Mountain Green, the Beautiful" is meant to be a happy book. With this in mind many delightful ezisodes have been included on its pages, along with the diaries, augobiographies and histories, which make up the greater portion of the book. Without their great faith and loyalty to the Church, which gave them the ability to adjust to all occasions, the Pioneers would never have been able to cope with the severly trying times which dogged their every step across the plains and beyond. Buoyed up by that great faith and feelings of happiness and well being, it was easy for them to let their penchant for fun come to the fore on all suitable occasions. Truly they were builders of a great new way of life. Muriel R. Shupe RECORD KEEPING 'I had made up my mind that I would never write a book and was even more determined when I read Job's warning Oh that mine adversary had written a gook....Job 31:35. But three main reasons changed my mind.' (The Miracle of Forgive¬ness, Page 10, preface, President Spencer W. Kimball) And a Book of Remembrance was kept, in the language of Adam, for it was given unto as many as called upon God to write by the spirit of inspiration: And by them their children were taught to read and write, having a language that was pure and undefiled. (Moses: 6:5-6) But the records of the fathers have I kept even unto this day, and I shall endeavor to write some of these things upon this record, for the benefit of my posterity that shall come after me. (Abraham 1:31) And again, let all the records be had in order, that they may be put in the archived of my holy temple, to be held in remembrance from generation to generation. (D.C. 127:9) 4 |
