Show close to Crow Creek, which supplied water for our use. Alleen was born here and my wife was very sick for four months, but Cod spared her for the family who need¬ed her so badly. Our son, David, went to Kirkville to college, then volunteered to aid in the Spanish-American War. We moved the house up on the hill and piped the water in, which was quite a luxury. Here we lived for nearly 20 years. Lenna, Erma and Verge were born here. The old home was sold in 1910 and we moved to Mountain Home. While living there we had a fire which burned most of our belongings. We moved to Boise in 1911 and four years later were back living in Idaho Falls. We lived for a while at Basalt, farmed a year at Tyhee, then moved to Pocatello where I worked as night watchman at a flour mill for a few years. We moved back to Idaho Falls in 1925 where we spent the remainder of our lives. By 1922 all the living children were married, Emily died while visiting Ethel. I am at present with my daughter, Ethel, and she is writing this life history. EMILY ADELAIDE FRANCE BYBEE Emily Adelaide France was born September 21, 1857, in Centerville, Davis Co. , a daughter of Joseph David and Adelaide Gyde France. Her father was a convert from Pennsylvania and her English mother came from Painswick. Adelaide was the fourth wife of Joseph David and the fam¬ily lived in Centerville until about 1871 when they purchased a farm on Dry Creek in Mountain Green, Morgan County. Adelaide and her 10 children moved there and operated the little farm. Besides raising hay and grain, the family cared for a herd of dairy cattle, chickens and other farm animals. Mother and children were mostly on their own as Joseph David was active in the Church and had to look after his other three families. Eight of the children were born in Centerville, two arrived in Mountain Green. They lived in a little log house on the banks of Dry Creek, attended school and Church in a log building located between Dry Creek and Gordon Creek. It was probably in Mountain Green that David Byram Bybee met and courted Emily Adelaide France. Emily Adelaide France Bybee died in Pocatello November 20, 1933. David Byram Bybee died in Idaho Falls on January 5, 1937. Both are buried in the Rosehill Cemetery in Idaho Falls. They were parents of 16 children. 181 JEDDIE |
