Show HOME IN MOUNTAIN GREEN THE NEWLYWEDS GLADYS BERNEICE Life History of Edward and Nellie Fernelius 1906 The years Ed and Nellie Robinson Fernelius lived in Mountain Green, they served in every position to which they were called in the little Ward. Edward Adolph Fernelius was born, 24 December 1876, in Danielson, Meeker County, Minnesota. He was a son of Charles Adolph and Marie Lindburg Fernelius, emigrants from Sweden. His parents were considered infidels because they could not relate to the many sects of the day. In 1881 Charles and his brother, Peter, had their first encounter with the LDS Missionaries. In an encounter with the missionaries a Methodist minister ended his tirade against the missionaries with a distorted report on the Mountain Meadow massacre. Charles was angered at this unfair treatment and demanded that the missionaries be given a chance to defend themselves. As a result of this encounter Charles and Peter were among 27 people who appl¬ied for baptism. The two Fernelius families moved to Utah and settled on a farm in South Weber, Davis County. Because of added travel distance to the South Weber Ward the two families joined the Uintah Ward where Charles served as Bishop. 240 |
