ARCHIE ROBINSON THE SANDSTONE HOUSE HESTER L. ROBINSON Archie Robinson -- Farmer and Lumberman 1920 For the entire 35 years of their married lives Archie and Hester Doris Little Robinson lived in the handsome two-story sandstone house on Strawberry Creek in Mountain Green. Archie Robinson was born in Mountain Green 6 July 1898, a son of John Heber and Lenora France Robinson. He was the 11th child in a family of 12. He attended grade school in Peterson and Morgan and took a course in business at the Henager Business College in Ogden. He spent his youth on his father's farm and also worked at the sawmill in various canyons in the Valley. Here he learned to judge timber, a talent which paid off in later years when he owned and operated his own sawmill. Archie had two important things going for him in his youth. He was a hand¬some fellow and, more important so far as the girls were concerned, he had access to his father's automobile. Hester Doris Little, daughter of Jedediah Grant and Elizabeth Thurston Little, was born 29 April 1899 in Littleton, Morgan County. She was active in the Little¬ton LDS Ward and attended Morgan County Schools. At the age of two her father died while being operated on for a tumor. The operation took place on the kitchen table, and the event was a traumatic experience for the entire family. Hester was eight when her mother died. From then until she was old enough to shift for herself she lived with one or another of her brothers and sisters. 297
