THE PARRISH HOME RUTH WALLACE BETH GORDON 'Because of late Fall and early Spring work on the farm I became discouraged and dropped out of school, staying in Mountain Green until called to serve a miss¬ion to the Southern States in 1902. Upon my return home I again helped on the Mountain Green farm. 'In 1906 I married Ida Elizabeth Cook of South Weber. A daughter of David S. and Janet Hunter Cook, she was born 14 September 1882, in South Weber. We mov¬ed into two rooms in the old home in Centerville where Ruth was born in December of 1907. We next moved to Mountain Green where we became active in the Ward and Community affairs. In March of 1909 I was made a High Priest and set apart as Bishop of the Peterson Ward. 'In 1912 I was set apart to preside over the newly organized Mountain Green Ward and supervised the erection of a new meeting house which was used until 1928. At that time the Mountain Green Ward was combined with the Peterson Ward because of the small membership of both Wards. 'I served as Bishop of the combined wards until 1932, making a total of 23 years as a Bishop. In December 1932, I was ordained Patriarch of the Morgan LDS Stake by Apostle George F. Richards. 'Being interested in community affairs I served as Morgan County Commissioner for the north part of the County. During that time we were able to get the Utah Power and Light Company to extend the power lines from Peterson to Mountain Green. 'I helped introduce the Guernsey breed of dairy cattle to the Community 183
