Show HORACE FRANCE HARRY WARNER HOMER WARNER LOVELL OSTLER ARTHUR PETTIT LOUIS BATES Doughboys of World War I We watched a long procession of motorized Army equipment travel down the road in the Spring of 1919. The War was over and America had thoroughly beaten up on those bad guys, the 'Germans.' Our boyhood games now changed from cowboys and Ind¬ians to Americans and Germans. Naturally the Germans were the bad guys and always lost the battle. Sometimes this reached over into our mental attitudes concerning some German families who had joined the Church and migrated to America. This didn't last long because those good families proved themselves to be excellent neighbors. We learned to love and resp¬ect them. —Wallace Parrish, Logan 99 |
