Show Zenos and Naomi Sproggs Morby 1924 Among the several families that took up residence at Rosehill Cottage was that of Zenos Elmo and Ida Naomi Sproggs Morby. They were parents of eight children. They also lived a short time in Ralph Warner's yellow brick house. Zenos Elmo Morby was born in Coalville, Summit County, Utah, 10 April 1889. His parents were Zenos and Barbara Nichols Morby. He attended school in Summit Co. and married Ida Naomi Sproggs 13 December 1916, in Evanston, Wyo. Naomi was born, March 1897, at Coalville. Parents of Ida Naomi were William and Phoebe Ellen Stonebraker Sproggs. She likewise attended schools in Summit County. The young couple moved to McGill, Nevada, where their first three children, Peggy, Edna and Ruby, were born. During World War II Zenos worked for the Anaconda Copper Mines in McGill. The family moved back to Coalville where Deane was born. Zenos was employed of the Summit County Road Department. He also worked on the Echo Canyon Dam project. Following Deane's birth the family moved to Mountain Green where Liela was born in the Rosehill Cottage in 1924. One year later the Morbys were living in Hoytsville where Roy and Della were born. Roy was serving with the military in Germany during World War II when he was killed in action. He was buried in Germany. Although their father was not active in any church the children remember that he was careful to teach them good manners, something they always cherished. By 1931 the Morbys were living in Pocatello, Idaho where Zenos worked for the Idaho Power Company. Here they bought a badly neglected and delapidated little house and spent their spare time remodeling and transforming it into a pleasant and comfortable home. It was here that Ida Mae, the eighth child, was born. ZENOS MORBY IDA NAOMI SPROGGS MORBY 316 |
