Show LOUISE EDWIN C. WARNER HAZEL Edwin C. Warner Lover of Fine Horses 1914 Found among some papers in possession of Edna Warner Heiner, was this account of the life of Edwin Candland Warner, believed to have been written by him a number of years before his death. Edwin C. Warner was born 21 June 1886, in Uintah, Utah, a son of William G. and Minnie Alena Candland Warner. He attended Uintah Schools until he reached the fourth grade. The family moved to the ranch in Mountain Green in September of 1900, so he continued his schooling at Peterson where he graduated from the eighth grade in 1903. He was offered a scholarship to the University of Utah but decided to go to work in order to help his father pay for the Mountain Green ranch. Edna Warner Heiner remembered her brother as a handsome fellow with a happy disposition, always whistling and singing around the home. He loved fine horses and drove a fancy rig with a team of matched, high spirited blacks. Needless to say, he caught the attention of all the young ladies in town, but he paid much attention to Louise Rollins, the 'girl next door,' was his choice. On 21 February 1911 Ed and Louise were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She was a daughter of Steuben Oscar and Susan Whitaker Rollins and was born 8 April, 1890, in Centerville. Seven days after the wedding Ed left for an LDS Mission to Australia. He was gone three years and four months. Upon his release Louise traveled to the 'land down under' and the two returned to Mountain Green. Ed was made First Counselor to Bishop Joseph A. Parrish. The young couple built a small frame house across the street from their folks. In 1914 their first child, Marion, was born here. Soon after, a move was made to Ogden where the family lived at 21st Street and Ogden Avenue, 284 |
