When the family of William and Sarah Call moved to Mountain Green in 1923 they brought great strength and support to the little LDS Ward and Community. William Warren Call was born in Bountiful, Davis County, october 9, 1875, a son of Cyril Josiah and Sarah Almira Kent Call. On September 24, 1896, he married Sarah Louisa Willey in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, Sarah Louisa had also been born in Bountiful, a daughter of Jeremiah and Annie Roberts Willey. As a young woman she and two sisters, May and Mattie, sang as a trio all over Davis County. They were known as the Willey Singers. William's father gave the young couple a parcel of land in Syracuse where they lived until 1916. Here all but one of their children were born: Odell, Jedd, Mary, Reva, Myrtle, Burt, Kent and Elma. The youngest, Louise, was born in Malad, Idaho. In 1916 the family moved to Malad, Idaho, where William again took up his fa¬vorite vocation of farming. Along with his farm work he helped dig an irrigation canal and worked with threshing crews throughout the area. William owned a handsome team of Clydsdale horses which he exhibited in fairs and celebrations throughout the area, especially at 4th of July celebrations. Will¬iam and Sarah were beautiful dancers and won many prizes on the ballroom floor. Both parents and children were active in the Church. William served in all 311 |
