Show students who did well were lucky enough to be included on the honor roll even if they didn't appreciate the long hours of practicing which it entailed at the time. Edna Warner studied piano with a teacher in Ogden. She was lucky enough to have a father, William G. Warner, who was a Union Pacific Railroad engineer so she could enjoy the weekly trips to Ogden on the train, traveling on a family pass. At one time when their chidren were young, John Heber and "Nodie" Robinson had hired a piano and violin teacher from Ogden, who traveled to Mountain Green to teach his young students. He was known as 'Doc' Putnam. These included Nora, Ellen, Nellie, and Lettie on the piano; and Jim on the fiddle. Jim and the teacher didn't seem to get along and Jim quit. The remainder of the lessons were taken by John Heber, his father. DOWN MELODY LANE 92 |
