Show The Kippens on Dry Creek 1909 KIPPEN HOME ON DRY CREEK ILEEN SMITH KIPPEN Robert Alexander and Ileen Smith Kippen lived on the Kippen ranch up Dry Creek, where he raised prize winning hogs and Black Angus cattle. They had no family of their own. Robert Alexander "Robbie" Kippen was born 6 September 1867, in Woods Cross, Davis County, a son of James and Catherine Watson Kippen. His parents were con¬verts to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints from Scotland. They emmigrated to Utah and first settled in Centerville. Ileen Kippen was born 23 May 1881, in Stoddard, a daughter of Nathaniel and Sarah Sims Smith. She grew up in Stoddard but never had the opportunity to go to school. On 17 June 1909, Robert and Ileen were married. The Kippen family owned considerable property in Morgan County, including the ranch in Mountain Green. It was here that the young couple lived following their marriage. The farm produced hay and grain and Robert raised prize winning hogs and Black Angus cattle. He also raised other domestic stock such as cows, chickens and geese. Ileen was a meticulous housekeeper and the Kippen home was very modern for the times, with running water and an indoor bathroom. No matter how busy Ileen was she always had time for the children. Having none of her own she lavished love on the neighbor's children, entertaining them in their home and sewing for the girls.
