In 1895 President Benjamin Harrison signed a proclamation granting amnesty to those polygamous couples who were married before 1890. James Hyrum moved his two families to Syracuse, Davis County. They operated a farm, made molasses and kept a herd of sheep. The remainder of their married lives were spent in peace and harmony. Fanny died in 1908 and was followed by James Hyrum two years later. Margaret Ellen lived until 1931. All three are buried in the Syracuse Cemetery.
