Show located Margaret Ellen at Fort Bridger and Fanny at Randolph for the duration. In 1895 President Benjamin Harrison signed a proclamation granting amnesty to those polygamous couples who were married before 1890. James Hyrum moved his two families to Syracuse, Davis County. They operated a farm, made molasses and kept a herd of sheep. The remainder of their married lives were spent in peace and harmony. Fanny died in 1908 and was followed by James Hyrum two years later. Margaret Ellen lived until 1931. All three are buried in the Syracuse Cemetery. Of the 28 children born to James Hyrum, two were born in Morgan and one in Mountain Green. —Edwin Baird THE CHUCKLE COLUMN Two old pals, former LDS Missionaries, died and went to heaven. At the Pearly Gates St. Peter said to them, "I'm sorry, but we are so crowded here that you will have to go down below for a few day." So off they went. A week went by and St. Peter had a phone call from Satan. "What's the trouble?" asked St. Peter, He could tell that the Devil was crying. Satan said, "For heaven's sake come and get these two fellows right now! They have been trying to convert all my people here, and if that isn't bad enough, they also are working on plans to have the place air conditioned!" NIGHT RIDERS IN THE SKY 210 |
