Show The Randalls and the Dairy about 1890 At one time Rosehill Cottage and land belonging to Harry Wilkinsen, was rented by the Randall Bro-thers Corporation of Centerville, which included Melvin Harley and Orrin H. Randall. Melvin H. Randall and family lived on the ranch for a while. He then returned to Centerville and his three sons, Harley P., Melvin Howard and Elbert Randall, stayed on the place to do the farm work. The daughters in the family took turns staying on the ranch to cook, sew and keep house for their brothers. There was a creek close by which was well stocked with trout. The boys would spear the fish with a pitchfork, clean them and store them in barrels, salted down and used for food in the wintertime. Melvin Harley Randall was born, 1 August 1857, in Salt Lake City, a son of Alfred and Margaret Harley Randall. He married Frankie Bennett, 15 February 1875, in the LDS Endowment House in Salt Lake City. They were parents of 10 children. Melvin Harley Randall was a hard worker and very active in the LDS Church, He served as Bishop in Centerville for a number of years and also worked in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Frankie was a devoted mother and Church worker, serving as organist in Center¬ville for more than 30 years. She bought the first organ in the corrmunity and her name and the names of choir members were engraved on the back of the organ. Three of Melvin and Frankie's sons served LDS Missions. Melvin was the first mayor of Centerville when it was incorporated as a town, serving two terms. He was one of the leaders who sponsored the installation of the Centerville water system. He was a school trustee for many years and was also a Davis County Commissioner for six years. Melvin Harley Randall died, 21 April 1930, at his home in Centerville. MELVIN H.
