Utah 84401 (801) 621-8710 (801) 621-8731 Fax June 24, 1997 Weber County Clerk/Auditor and Weber County Attorney's Office 2380 Washington Blvd., 3rd Floor Weber Center Ogden, UT 84401 Re: Filing of Marriott-Slaterville City Request for Feasibility Study Dear Linda Lunceford and David Wilson: Please find attached the Marriott-Slaterville City Request for Feasibility Study, which has exhibits for the legal description and accurate map prepared by the Weber County Surveyor's Office (prepared actually for the purpose of a combined planning district). These exhibits were attached to the Request for Feasibility Study when the local landowners signed it. The Request bears the signatures of 171 landowners, including the five Sponsors, within the areas of the proposed incorporation. Please note that the approximate number of inhabitants is 1350 which is sufficient for the 800 minimum required for a third class city. During the community meeting, some individuals expressed an interest in also having the results of the feasibility study reflect information examining the possibility of Marriott and Slaterville incorporating as separate towns (and whether Marriott exceeds the 105% provision), thus providing the information necessary to determine the best future course for the communities. Each community has the minimum 100 residents required. Another primary concern of the residents revolves around the possibility of incorporation of these communities with little or no net tax increase, especially a proposed property tax increase. The residents appear to desire the current level of county services, and would like to contract all services possible to Weber County and the private sector, and also continue to participate in special service districts already used in the area. From my understanding of House Bill 363, the current incorporation law, codified at Utah Code Sections 10-2-101 et seq., the ownership of real estate by those who have signed the Request will have to be verified to determine that the minimum requirements have been reached. The Sponsors and Petitioners would appreciate your prompt attention to the certification and delivery of this cover letter and the Request, together with all exhibits, to the County Commission. The Sponsors and 1 are willing to offer any assistance necessary to expedite the process.
