Show Marriott's Poet Laureate Michael Murphy has lived in Marriott for nearly two decades and has been noted for her fine poetry. In the following poem she salutes the strength of Marriott. Both newcomers and long time residents can relate to her beautifully simple voice in.. ECHOES OF HERITAGE Bright Green fields lovingly cared for, by a people of faith. Slowly, like the rich seeds within the soil, Marriott grew from dreams to reality. Quiet, hard working people, toiling side by side, echoing the sounds of the streams running by. This place prospers from the humble legacy left by hearty ancestors, who loved this site, and the gift of the land. MARRIOTT HISTORY Donald Hall and Mildred Slater are collecting material for a book on the community of Marriott. They need pictures, stories, and facts about Marriott settlers and residents. Upon completion, the book will be made available for purchase to all Marriott residents and their families, both present and past. Willard Marriott family has pledged $1,000 to help form the Marriott Township Foundation for township activities. A TOWNSHIP IS NOT A TOWN 1. Establishes boundaries that cannot be annexed into bordering municipalities. 2. Preserves historical value. 3. All county services remain such as sheriff, fire, and roads. 4.
