Show SLATERVILLE GOALS AND POLICIES Residential Development Goal - Maintain the low density single family residential areas. 1. If property can be serviced by sanitary sewer, the lot size recommended is one-half acre [20,000 square feet.]. 2. The remainder of property located in the community, if proposed for residential development, should be 40,000 Square foot lots [A-1 or A-2]. Goal - Protect the residential areas from the impacts of commercial, industrial or other development impacts. 1. Require that there be a definite edge to the different land uses with protective barriers in place such as streets, parks, or other buffer yards. 2. If no physical barrier exists, require that a substantial buffer space with landscaping and landform creating a definite edge and breaking up the visual, sound and other disturbances originating from the development site. Commercial Development Goal - Commercial Development should occur adjacent to major arterial streets and the Interstate Freeway and not impact areas of the community where residential development is expected to occur. 1. Develop the property along the east side of 2000 West Street and west of Interstate Highway I - 15. 2. Zone property for commercial development only upon application with a specific project in mind. 3. Ensure a definite edge to commercial development such as a major street, canal or other physical barrier adjacent to residential development. Transportation Goal - Improve the existing major streets to accommodate existing and future traffic needs 1. Determine the existing traffic flow and problem areas in the community. 2. Develop both immediate short term and long term solutions. -9- 459 |
