Show EXHIBITE"D" SPECIFIC POPULATION WITHIN CITY COUNCIL DISTRICT BOUNDARIES FOR MARRIOTT-SLATERVILLE CITY CITY-WIDE: Total population within the city limits as determined by the feasibility consultant: 1508. Average number of people per city council district, with two city council districts: 754. Total number of houses and apartment units within the city limits: 439. Average number of people per house/apartment unit within the city limits: 3.435. BY CITY COUNCIL DISTRICT: 1. The total number of houses and apartment units within city council district number 1 (east district) is 208, thus giving a total population of 714 (using the average number of people per house/apartment unit set forth above). 2. The total number of houses and apartment units within city council district number 2 (west district) is 231, thus giving a total population of 794 (using the average number of people per house/apartment unit set forth above). LEGAL ANALYSIS: Each city council district has a 5.3% variance from the average city council district size. This variance is well within constitutional limits, especially since more population growth is anticipated in the smaller city council district 1 (east district), as compared to city council district 2 (west district). Moreover, there is an exceptional benefit in using a "straight" easily identifiable boundary line. A more specific identification of the Marriott-Slaterville City households (houses and apartment units), which was used at the public hearing, is on the following page. 163 |
