Show PLANNING COMMISSION July 31, 1990 Page Two 1. The invocation was offered by Haynes Fuller 2. Minutes The Minutes of the June 26, 1990 meeting were approved upon a motion by Commissioner Gibson, seconded and voting was unanimous. Commissioner Widdison indicated that only Commissioners Thompsen, Widdison and Thompson were present at the July 10, 1990 meeting. With this stated change she moved to approve the minutes of the July 10, 1990 meeting. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Thompsen and voting was unanimous. 3. Public Presentations A. Biking in Ogden Canyon Rose Droubay, representing the friends of the Ogden Canyon Bikeway spoke about a possible bike route through Ogden Canyon. There was a bike route proposed years ago that followed the old railroad easement, but it did not work because it ran through private property. They are trying to get a bike route and are willing to spend many hours to accomplish this. The proposed route could possibly be fenced, open only in the day and charged a small toll fee to pay for security and upkeep. She stressed that Ogden Canyon is one the most beautiful canyons with old and rare rock formations and at present there is no place to park or walk where one can enjoy the beauty. She presented a petition with 1500 signatures who would like to see a bike route through Ogden Canyon. As she understands the situation, the old route was to be built with the funding of the rails through trails. She asked if a route could be proposed to go around the private property. She asked the Planning Commissioners what here next step would be. Staff indicated that they made a study 4-5 years ago, but ran into problems with property owners. The Chamber of Commerce also tried to work with the property owners, but were unable to accomplish this also. Staff indicated to Ms. Droubay that she could present the proposal to the County Commissioners and Mission 2000 to see if there is interest in pursuing the bike route at this time. John Van Alfen of the Liberty Planning Committee indicated that he would be in favor of a bike route so that it could remove the hazard of bikers on the busy and dangerous highway through the canyon. MOTION: Commissioner Fuller moved to close the Planning Commission Meeting at this time. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Coleman and voting was unanimous. 4. Public Hearing for Comprehensive Plan Update - Marriott/Slaterville Districts MOTION: Commissioner Gibson moved to open a public hearing for the Comprehensive Plan Update for the Marriott/Slaterville Districts. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Widdison and voting was unanimous. 428 |
