November 2-3, 1999 Incorporation advocate wins seat handily Standard-Examiner staff MARRIOTT-SLATERVILLE -City Council president Orvil Holley earned a resounding victory in Tuesday's election, receiving 73 percent of the votes. Holley, who has worked several MARRIOTT-SLATERVILLE years to incorporate the two communities into a city, said his victory over challenger James Elmer was a vote of confidence. "I feel good about it. I think voters felt that over the years they feel like we're doing the right thing," Holley said. In the Seat C race, newcomer Dennis Ilium won by a 9 percent margin over incumbent Ren Meyerhoffer. Rob Smout campaigned unopposed for Seat E.
