Newest city can meet candidates MARRIOTT-SLATERVILLE - Voters in Weber County's newest city will get to meet the candidates for their government at a meet-the-candidates night Friday. The meeting will be at Pioneer Elementary School, 250 N. 1600 West, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Marriott-Slaterville voted to incorporate as a city in November. It must elect officials at the next special election date, Feb. 2. Absentee balloting is already available for the election at the Weber County Clerk/Auditor's office, 2380 Washington Blvd. Voters will elect two city council people each from the east and west halves of the city. One councilman serving "at-large" will also be elected, making a five person council. Candidates for mayor are Keith Butler, Slaterville, and Randy Phipps, Marriott. Candidates for the at-large seat are H. Orvil Holley and Dennis E. Illium. Candidates for District 1, which takes in all of the city east of 1900 West, are Judi Elmer, Delbert Hodson, Ren L. Meyerhoffer and Bryan D. Thiriot. The top two vote getters will win. Candidates in District 2, which takes in the west half of the city, are Barbara Brown, Darren A. Devries, Kim R.
