Show Together, Slaterville and Marriott will have a solid community with excellent public services for the necessities, a manageable population, and a generous mix of residential and business. Above all, we will build a prosperous future together. WE WILL BECOME A "CONTRACT CITY" SERVICES TO REMAIN THE SAME: Weber County Fire District and this will not change because we will remain in the current fire district. No problem. Sheriff services and animal control will be contracted with the Weber County Sheriff. Road maintenance/snow removal will still be handled by the county. Planning issues and many other details, once we are incorporated as our own city, will remain just as they are now. These services will be contract to the county and are services we are currently provided with. This is similar to services Farr West and West Haven contract for with the county. Nothing changes, except local people determine the level of services we need, and we can keep all our left-over revenue instead of letting the county keep it. WHAT'S THE HURRY? You snooze, you lose. Our wake up call came with the loss of our township boundary control, threats of annexation and the D.D.O. reverting to Ogden City. If we want to stay intact this is likely our last chance, and it's imperative that we waste no time. Now is the time to take action and preserve our identity, history and future. WHAT DO WE NEED TO DO? In order to incorporate, this is what needs to happen: 1. Property owners need to sign the petition to hold an election. 2. The county will verify the property owners signatures on the election petition, and set our incorporation election. 3. The election will be held this year. 4. Get started on building our future together. WHAT DO THE OPTIONS SHOW US? 1. Incorporate. Create Marriott-Slaterville City to preserve the integrity of our borders, and allow for full community self-determination. 2. Split up. Live on the edge of the expanding cities on three sides. a little annexation here, a little there, until there is nothing left of our communities. 3. Do nothing. This is only a temporary solution and a bad one at that. It offers little self-determination and with current growth rates we will eventually be wall-to-wall cities. Why not choose where you want to end up? OUR OLD COMMUNITY'S HISTORY WILL BE AS GOOD AS NEW We are making history now and it will be brighter and better. Marriott-Slaterville will work together to enhance our past, improve our present, and create our own future. As a city, our local people will have local control and make the decisions that will better the community. Further, because we will be a contract city we will have the ability to regulate the services we want as they are needed. We will have ample funds to benefit the community. The roles of Slaterville's and Marriott's distinct identity will be preserved for posterity. " GET IT TOGETHER... There is strong support for the proposed Marriott-Slaterville City, yet, there is still much you can do. To volunteer, please call any of the incorporation sponsors.
