Last week the Bureau of Reclamation ruled that Pineview Dam needed reinforcing after studies revealed it would not withstand a major quake. Morris said the time elected and appointed officials spend away from their regular duties is well worth the time and effort. "I hope the community of Ogden City and Weber County will look at this time they're spending here as an investment," Morris said. "For every dollar you spend in prevention, you will get back two to four times that amount when any kind of disaster occurs, small or large. The best investment your community can have is to prepare your people so that when a disaster occurs, they can handle it." 293 |
