The collection includes Autobiographies, Oral Histories, History of Marriott, History of Slaterville, and the History of the Merging Townships to create Marriott-Slaterville City. This information has left behind rich histories, stories and important information regarding the history of the Marriott-Slaterville area. |

Show geneological and historical, of Marriott, and to them the credit is entirely due for keeping the early data. (By G. Marriott notes) Bishops 1st Bishop - James Ritchie - 1877 James W. Burton and Helon H. Tracy, counselors. (Served 25 years) James Burton was released at his own request. John D. Powell was sustained. 2nd Bishop - Moroni S. Marriott - July 25, 1902 George Ritchie and Timothy P. Terry, counselors with Georgina Marriott as clerk. (6 years) 3rd Bishop - Thomas E. Powell - October 13, 1908 John D. Peterson, Hyrura W. Marriott, counselors with Joseph Bingham clerk. (10 years) 4th Bishop - Lawrence Ritchie - February, 1918 W. H. Marriott and Lawrence Slater counselors with John Peterson clerk. Later John Peterson was released and Earl Butler sustained. W. H. Marriott was released and Helon H. Tracy, Sr. took his place. Later Helon H. Tracy, Sr. was released and Orson Allred took his place. (22 years) 5th Bishop - LaValle Butt - 1939 - Frank D. Hodson and Earl Butler counselors with Julian M. Powell as clerk. 6th Bishop - Grant W. Hodson Seymour Hewitt and Thurman Ritchie, then Delos Bingham as counselors with Clyde Hipwell as clerk. Later he was released and Vernon Pierce was sustained as clerk. 7th Bishop - Marion L. Powell William S. Blair and Orville Holmes as counselors with Vernon Pierce as clerk. Later William S. Blair was released and Carl W. Hodson replaced him. Then Vernon Pierce was released and Glen McFarland replaced him. (The chapel part of the meeting house was built by Helon Henry Tracy, 1st counselor to the first bishop, James Ritchie.) Bishop Moroni Marriott spoke about building on to our meeting house which has been under consideration for some time. They selected four men to investigate the remodling and building on of class rooms which were as follows: Henry H. Butler, Caleb Parry, William Marriott, and Lawrence Ritchie. 377 |
